    RiverWalk

    Free entertainment and outdoor fun is brought to Clarksville through the McGregor Park RiverWalk. With its concrete walkways along the bank of the Cumberland River, the RiverWalk at 640 N. Riverside Drive is at the heart the River District. Comprising 15 acres, it includes a 1-mile walking trail, a 700-person capacity amphitheater, an outdoor stage with seating for more than 3,000, overlook plazas, a playground, picnic facilities, wharf, boat ramp and pedestrian overpass.

    The RiverWalk has a lighted walkway following the river and a handicapped-accessible playground, picnic area, and boat launch.

    RiverWalk hosts a variety of annual events, including Riverfest, Christmas on the Cumberland, a Fourth of July celebration and various concerts. The park also has a permanent exhibit detailing the river's history in the As the River Flows Museum.

    Art galleries

    Downtown Artists Co-op, 96 Franklin St., 552-4747. DAC is an active, well-supported volunteer organization of artists and art lovers from the Montgomery County area and beyond, with a gallery that is open part of the week for visitors. The group sponsors many visual arts exhibits by Co-op members and regional artists each month. It also community outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers in order to promote arts education. Hours: noon-6 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. www.clarksvilleartists.net.

    Austin Peay Downtown Gallery, 116 Strawberry Alley, 221-7333. The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts has set up this air gallery off campus to provide extra gallery space for APSU alumni and faculty. It is operated by APSU art professor Barry Jones. The gallery takes part in Clarksville's First Thursday Art Walk, the monthly tour of downtown stores and art galleries.     Trahern Gallery, Margaret Fort Trahern Art and Drama complex, Austin Peay State University. 221-7333. Featuring an array of regional, national and international exhibits, this gallery changes on a regular basis and provides a rotating exhibition of original art.     Farms

    Granny Wall's Century Farm, 1219 St. Michael Road. 387-2594. jandjcenturyfarm.com. Hay rides, farm animals, crafts. Also special events such as Military Appreciation Days, Family Day, U-Pick Blackberries & Boysenberries, Haunted Maze and Pumpkin Carving Contest. Open April-May and September-December, Saturdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. Christmas Season hours may vary.

    Patterson Place Farm, Zoo and Pumpkin Patch, 2480 Patterson Road, Woodlawn. 553-0639. A working farm that includes a zoo with more than 30 animals, including camel, alpaca, deer, peacocks and more. Fall brings a corn maze, hay rides, picnic pavilions and large variety of pumpkins. Admission: $6. Hours are by appointment throughout the summer, and from September 10 to Nov. 5. the hours are Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. www.pattersonplacefarm.com.

    Riverview Mounds Century Farm, 1715 Boyd Rinehart Road, 624-1095. This multi-faceted farm includes Mississippian Indian mounds, hay rides, corn maze, pumpkin patch, camping, giant tunnel slide, petting zoo, concessions, pony rides, a giant sand box, Grandaddy's Giant Checkers, and barrel train rides. Admission: 3 and older $7, two and younger free. Open Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Sept. 10 to the first weekend of November, with special Friday and Saturday evenings for the Corn Maze, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Open Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the six weeks prior to Easter, closing Easter weekend.     Other attractions

    Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre, 710 Main St. and 1955 Madison St., 552-1106. This group of community actors presents several dinner theater shows each year directed by artistic director Jan Dial and local radio personality Art Conn, with children's shows interspersed throughout the year. George Terrell owns the center.

    Disc Golf Course, War Memorial Park, 101 Walter Garrett Lane, Oak Grove, Ky. 1-866-779-1250 or 270-439-5675. An 18-hole PDGA course for disc golfers. More at visitoakgroveky.com.

    Jump Zone, 525 Alfred Thun Road, 266-4365. Various indoor play events for children, such as birthday parties, fundraisers, fundraisers and school trips, are tailor-made for these seven large inflatables, which include a castle and a huge octopus. Open Wednesdays & Thursdays from 5-8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Weekend hours vary. Open play rate: $7. www.jumpzoneparty.com.

    • Kings Bluff, southeast Clarksville on the Cumberland River, contact Scott Griggs at kingsbluff@hotmail.com. A venue for rock-climbing enthusiasts, Kings Bluff is a limestone wall overlooking the Cumberland River that ranges from 30 to 80 feet in height. It is owned by the Southeastern Climber's Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving climbing areas.     Pottery Room, 2214 Madison St., 920-4777. Pottery studio allows novices to paint their own ceramic pottery, which is then professionally glazed. Hours: Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Sunday 1-6 p.m. Pottery pieces range from $2-$65. www.thepotteryroom.com.

    Red River Canoe, 8002 U.S. Highway 41 N., Adams, 615-696-2768 or (800) 762-8408. This spacious campground in Adams offers three- to six-hour canoe or kayak trips down the Red River. Camping amenities range from RV hookups and ranch houses with hot showers to tents and primitive camping. Catered cookouts. Canoe prices start at $20 per person and camping prices are $25 a night.     Renaissance Center in Dickson, 855 Highway 46 South, Dickson, 888-700-2300. An education and entertainment facility that provides classes, theatrical performances, film presentations and exhibits. Disciplines include visual arts, music, theater and dance. Events include Gaslight Dinner Theatre, Community Theatre, Camp Renaissance, the Tennessee Artisan Market, and Corks & Canvas. www.rcenter.org.

    Riding Stables, Fort Campbell, 6603 11th Airborne Division Road, just outside Gate 10, 270-798-2629. These stables offer guided 1-hour trail rides year round for 10 and older for $20 an hour, along with hayrides every third Saturday of the month ($5 per person, $2.50 for children age 2 to 5, and children ages 1 and under get free admission). The office hours are Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday and most Federal holidays.     Paintball, Fort Campbell, 6644 Jordan Springs Road, 270-956-3118. This is part of Fort Campbell's division for Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation. Guests are invited to simulate the battlefield experience on Outdoor Recreation's Paintball field. Troops are invited out for the for the hands-on learning experience. This range is open to military families and the general public and includes a clubhouse, skeet house, trap house and Five Stand. Hours: Noon-8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
