More
On Fort Campbell, there are nine schools — six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school — serving the on-post military families of one of America's premier military installations. Together, Fort Campbell and Fort Knox schools make up the Kentucky District of the Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) system.
With the addition of Barsanti Elementary in January 2011, Fort Campbell Schools began an ambitious program to modernize or replace other facilities within the next seven years, with an eye on educating students for the 21st century.
New advancements for the 2011-12 school year include the acquisition of smartboards — computer systems that replace whiteboards and provide feedback from student workstations — in every Fort Campbell classroom.
The Kentucky District Superintendent, located at Fort Knox, is Frank Calvano. Assistant Superintendent Jo Blease is located at Fort Campbell.
The Fort Campbell Central Office is at 77 Texas Ave. and is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. during the school year. For information, go to www.am.dodea.edu/campbell or call 270-439-1927.
Commencement for Fort Campbell High School Class of 2012 is scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 1, at Austin Peay State University's Dunn Center.
